Lohri Special
Thought Lantern wishes everyone a very Happy Lohri.
We are dedicating a poem to this wonderful festival.
Title - The Golden Glow of Lohri.
The winter wind whispers a chilly song, as the nights grow short and the days grow long. Gather the wood, let the pile rise high, under the vast and the starlit sky.
Crackling flames begin to dance, casting a warm and golden trance. A spark in the dark, a heat so bright, to banish the cold of the longest night.
We offer the til, the gur, and the grain, praying for harvest, for sun, and for rain. With popcorn and rewari shared in our hands, the scent of the fire drifts over the land.
The Dhol starts to beat, a rhythmic thrum, "Sunder Mundariye," the voices become. With Bhangra steps and Gidda grace, A smile is found on every face.
It’s a circle of love, of family and friends, where the old year fades, and the new hope begins. May the fire burn away every sorrow and fear, and light up the path for a beautiful year.
The fire will sink into embers of red when the moon goes to rest, and the stars go to bed. But the warmth of this night will stay in the bones, long after the winds of winter have blown.
For the sun has turned north, the light is returning, like the hope in our hearts that keeps steadily burning. Happy Lohri to the young, the old, and the kin. Let the bright season of harvest begin!
