Letter to My Inner Child Winners.

Thought Lantern recently organized a letter-writing competition theme was to write a letter to your inner child, and once again they have nailed it. Here are some winning pieces by the winners.

1st Winner - Poornima Sivaraman

A message to my inner child

Dear me,
Why do I feel at my last phase of life at 75, that I am still a child of eight years old. I love to jump and dance when I look out of my window daily in the morning, the beautiful greenery, the trees swaying in the wind, the butterflies hopping from one branch to the other with their beautiful multicoloured wings, and looking at the early birds flying all over the sky. I enjoy my cup of tea now, as I used to enjoy my Chocolate milk in my childhood years..What pleasant and good feelings to lift up my day.

“ They say, as you age, you go back to your childhood years. Is this true?”
The raindrops falling on my hands when I put my hands out is it not a wonderful kick to enjoy? The small pleasures of life are to be experienced. I feel like running out in the rain and dancing and singing my favourite songs.

Thank you for bringing back my childhood years. Be with me
till I depart this world with good memories spent.
Love and hugs.

2nd Winner Sujata Maggoo.

Dear Little Me,
I see you.
Still sitting quietly in the corner of my heart, your eyes full of wonder, your hands clutching dreams too big for your tiny palms. You were always so curious, so hopeful-even when the world didn't always make sense.

I want you to know that I've carried you with me through every storm and sunrise. Each time I stumbled, it was your voice that whispered, "Try again." Each time I forgot how to smile, it was your laughter echoing in my soul that reminded me who I am.

You were brave long before you knew the word. You believed in magic when life seemed ordinary. And you loved deeply, freely, without fear. Somewhere along the way, I tried to grow up too fast, but I realize now that I never needed to outgrow you.

So, I promise today to protect you, to listen when you cry, to play when you want to dance in the rain. I will let you draw outside the lines, dream without limits, and rest without guilt.

You are still my truest self, the one who hopes, heals, and believes. Thank you for remaining there every time I forgot to look for you.

With all my love,
 Me
