Book Name: Dian and Durga

Author: Jeevasini Patnana

Rating: 5/5

A little sneak peak into the story -

What if a lost baby dinosaur had Maa Durga herself as his guide and protector? Well that is the catch of this book although it starts with a fall and Dian the dinosaur slips into the lake and crash lands well not in water but in a Durga Puja Pandal where everyone runs away in fear except the Goddess herself.

Maa Durga comes alive for him she speaks to him in his own language, in a voice that sounded exactly like his mother's one line that touched me "I am the mother of all beings. That's why you see your mother in me."

From this point, Dian new that he was not alone he had Maa Durga by his side all the time but he wanted to go home and he was requesting Maa Durga that he wanted to see his family even though Maa Durga tries her best to take him everywhere to find a home but he refuses to stay there.

The part which moved me when Dian selflessly asked for a home not only for himself but he remembered his planet and the danger the meteors were creating when they wiped out the dinosaurs. He is not just a character but has a big heart, no selfish means, and wants the whole world to be saved.

And Maa being Maa listens to him she does not just give him a place to stay she gifted him his own world Dinolok  - a safe, happy world for dinosaurs where no one could harm him. Dian finally lives happily not because he forgot Maa Durga, but because he now knows she is always there.

Reasons why this book is a perfect read?

1) It discovers the angle of Hindu cosmology feel like a perfect adventure because Brahmalok, Viakunth, Kailash these are not only presented in a creative way but also the kids will learn the concept of Lokas.

2) A loveable hero Dian a little brachiosaurus he is polite, spreads goodness, and cares for his planet children and adults can relate to him on a personal level.

3) The book's overall message the book highlights that how home is not a normal place it is a place where you feel protected and a Goddess who is not only worshipped for nine nights and days but she is the eternal mother of all living beings.

Final verdict - Author's writing style is simple, visual, and full of heart the illustrations of Dian drawn by Jeevasini herself adds a different touch to the entire book it is an attractive read and yes, any age group can grab it for a fun read.
