A Celebration of Stories from within by creative pen holders.

Image
We organized a Short Story Competition, and writers caught our eye who paid attention to details and showed incredible skills by portraying their words on the creative plate in front of us. We want to share with you some of the amazing masterpieces that were worth winning.  1st Winner - Bhawana Sethi.  The Wellspring Within.  In the heart of Bangalore, amidst the whir of tech and the hum of daily life, lived Aisha, a middle-aged woman navigating the complexities of family and self. Her days were a carefully orchestrated dance - managing a household, nurturing two sons, and supporting a husband whose demanding job often kept him late into the night. Her eldest, a teenager on the cusp of adulthood, was exploring his own identity, while her youngest, still a child, filled their home with boundless energy and playful mischief. Aisha’s life, though full, often felt like a series of tasks, a checklist of responsibilities. Beneath her capable exterior, a quiet yearning res...

Conquering the Blank Pages: Practical Guide to break free from Writer's Block.

Image
Are you a writer who is also facing writer's block? This blog will help you ease out the writer's block and make you a creative person. So here are a few tips and tricks for you to adopt:  1. The Mindset Shift: Drop the Pressure Practice Freewriting: Set a timer for 5 to 15 minutes and write continuously without stopping. Don't worry about grammar, spelling, or coherence. Write whatever comes to mind, even if it's "I have nothing to write today." The goal is simply to build momentum and prove to yourself that you can put words on the page. Write a "Terrible" First Draft: Separate the act of creation from editing. Give yourself explicit permission to write a sloppy, flawed, or outright bad first draft. You can't edit a blank page, but you can certainly fix a bad one later. This trick takes the anxiety out of the initial writing session. 2. Change Your Environment and Routine Sometimes, the block isn't with your story, but with your surroundi...

Glimmer of Dhanteras (A Short Story)

Image
The air in the bustling Chandni Chowk market hummed with an expectant energy, a few days before Diwali. For 20-year-old Rhea, a fledgling artist trying to make ends meet, the approaching festival of lights felt more like a reminder of scarcity than a celebration. She watched families laden with glittering gold and silver—the traditional purchase of Dhanteras, the first day of Diwali—and sighed, clutching the worn strap of her empty satchel. Rhea lived with her grandmother, Dadi , who was the keeper of their family's dwindling history. That evening, as the first clay lamps were lit in their tiny apartment, Dadi called Rhea over, her eyes twinkling like distant stars. "Rhea, my child," Dadi began, her voice raspy, "on this sacred day of Dhanteras, we honor Dhanvantari and welcome wealth. Not all wealth is metal and stone." She pointed to a dusty, unremarkable bronze urn tucked away on a high shelf. "This urn has been in our family for five generations. It ho...

The Geometry of Healing.

Image
Today, the map is not a sudden star, But the slow, careful geography of what we are. The earth shifts, but you did not collapse. You only fractured into overlapping laps.  Of time—a thousand little yesterdays,  That needed quiet, unhurried ways. And healing is not a flash of light, But the daily, diligent drafting of the right.  Angle for your spine, the simple, small equation.  Of breath drawn in, escaping slow rotation. You thought the repair would be a flawless pane,  A clean, abrupt dismissal of the pain.  Instead, it's the Kintsugi of the soul—  Where golden lines embrace the broken whole. The trauma gave you edges, sharp and steep; Healing is the promise you must keep:  To let the sand of time and kindness find  And soften every corner of your mind.  You are not finished. You are still being built. But the foundation holds the strength you split. And now, each soft breath is a conscious prayer, A quiet, geometric proof that y...

Igniting Imagination in Young Minds.

Image
On 8th October 2025, Thought Lantern, in collaboration with Cambridge Montessori School Sector 20, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, organized a Storytelling competition. This event was not only a testament to children's imagination but also a chance to encourage them to come forward and narrate stories lying inside their minds and in the corner of their hearts. This is also an open message that Thought Lantern openly supports young talent, and without any discrimination, we create a safe place for these young minds to open up freely. This event was a success; every teacher and student put their best foot forward and supported Thought Lantern. There is so much talent hiding inside a child who frames the map of this world; no story is big or small, everything is narrated for a reason, and the young minds are always clear about what they want to create a story.  Prize distribution was done after the event, and the deserving candidates won their share of rewards. It is not always about re...

Golden Reverie: An Ode to Lakshmi Puja

Image
The crisp autumn air, a sweet, saffron whisper, As twilight descends and the sun starts to sliver.  The earth holds its breath, for a moment serene, Awaiting the radiance of a most sacred scene. Through every clean home, from the shelf to the floor, Small lamps flicker bright, at the window and door.  The earthen Diyas like stars brought to ground,  Chasing the darkness that gathers around. On the altar, the Goddess, in crimson and gold,  Her merciful tale, eternally told. The Lotus she sits  on, in full, gentle bloom,  A promise of purity dispelling all gloom. From the first silent hour till the last Aarti rings, The hopeful devotion the whole family brings.  Maa Lakshmi descends on the homes of the kind, Leaving abundance for body and mind. The Cosmic Blueprint: Importance of Mandala in Indian culture.

Image
The Mandala holds immense significance in Indian culture, transcending mere artistic design to function as a profound spiritual and philosophical symbol. The word "mandala" itself is Sanskrit for "circle" or "essence-container." Fundamentally, the Mandala is a symbolic diagram of the cosmos, with its geometric patterns radiating from a central point. It represents the ordered nature of the universe, encompassing both its vastness and our place within it.  In Hinduism and Buddhism,  the Mandala is used as an aid for meditation and contemplation by focusing on the intricate, radially balanced design and mental journey, taking it to the centre practitioner's aim to achieve spiritual progress, inner peace, and connect with the divine to attain enlightenment.  In Hinduism, a basic mandala is often called a Yantra , which is a geometric composition used in rituals and meditation, considered to be the abode of a deity or a revelatory symbol of cosmic trut...
